San Diego, CA - press release, July 11, 2003 -- ON World announced today that Michael W. Ritter, Ph.D. will become ON World's Senior Technical Advisor. Currently, the Chief Technical Officer of MetroFI, Mike will provide ON World with technical advice and strategic analysis on emerging wireless technologies. Mike's background includes executive positions with wireless startups such as Mobility Network Systems and Metricom, where he was responsible for architecting and developing a wireless network and infrastructure for the nationwide Ricochet Wireless Internet Service. Ritter also was manager of open systems development at Apple Computer, where he was responsible for MacTCP. Earlier, he was a manager at Sun Microsystems. An entrepreneur and author of multiple technical white papers, Mike recently designed software-based radios that are compatible with Bluetooth and 802.11b. His article, "The Future of WLANs," is published in the June 2003 edition of the ACM Queue magazine. Mike
has held consulting and research positions at Lockheed Space and Missiles
Company, Stanford University, Lawrence Livermore Laboratories, and was
a visiting staff member at Los Alamos National Laboratories. Ritter
holds a bachelors degree in physics from Stanford and an MS, MA,
and Ph.D. in physics from Yale. He is a member of IEEE and ACM.
