ON World Launches Smart Lighting Survey,
Invites Qualified Participants

Smart lighting professional installers are invited to participate in a smart home lighting survey by IoT research firm ON World.

“With hundreds of voice-controllable products available today, smart lighting is the leading entry-point for consumers to adopt smart home solutions,” says Mareca Hatler, ON World’s research director.  “For the past decade, our smart lighting research has provided leading lighting manufacturers, platform providers and service providers with key insights on the adoption trends as well as consumer needs and wants in this rapidly growing market.”

Smart lighting is one of the most widely adopted smart home solutions by consumers with over 400 products available from mass market chains including Amazon, Apple Stores, Ace Hardware, Bed Bath and Beyond, Best Buy, Target, True Value and Walmart.  This is two times as many products as ON World’s previous installer survey and most of these support voice control through Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit.

ON World’s 2018 survey askes key questions to smart lighting installers, IoT developers, lighting manufacturers, service providers and end users about current adoption rates as well as the fastest growing markets, product segments, features and technologies.

A few examples of the areas covered in the survey include:

  • Fastest growing product segments such as smart bulbs, smart strips and switches
  • Most popular smart lighting product brands
  • Highest demand smart lighting features
  • User requirements and application needs
  • Adoption inhibitors, drivers and technology gaps

This non-commissioned research study was created with input from global lighting manufacturers, smart home platforms and home service providers.

Professional home installers in the U.S. and Canada who have experience selling/installing smart lighting for residences are invited to participate in ON World’s anonymous survey.  The survey takes about 5 minutes to complete and participants will receive a free report on smart home lighting or $1,500 credit on any of ON World’s current reports as well as the survey results when completed.
